Hi! We’re Jonathan and Angela. Founders of Rivage Travel and Best Caribbean Resorts.

As one of the few Sandals Chairman’s Club Diamond Elite travel experts, we’re recognized by Sandals as the top 1% of all US-based travel advisors. We’ve personally been to every Sandals resort and worked with over 2,500 couples across every age and stage of life. Some knew exactly what they wanted. Others didn’t know where to begin. What we’ve learned is that no two couples are alike.

And no one resort is perfect for everyone, which is why we wrote this article. Let's continue! :)

How to Choose the Best Sandals Resort as a Young Couple

When we work with young couples, especially honeymooners or first-time visitors, there are five questions we always ask before recommending a resort. Think of this as your starting point.

1) Budget

For young couples on a budget, Sandals Ochi in Jamaica is the best option, offering the lowest entry-level rates, an active beach party vibe, and a fun atmosphere. Other top budget-friendly choices include Sandals Negril, with its epic beach, and Sandals Regency La Toc in St. Lucia, for romance.

Based on our booking data and firsthand experience working with Sandals clients, pricing typically ranges from about $225 to $500+ per person, per night, depending on the resort, time of year, and room category.

Now, because of that price variability, we built APEX™, our internal promotional intelligence system that monitors new promotions after booking and applies eligible savings before final payment.

Want to know more? You can see exactly how APEX works here.

2) Vibe

Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Ochi are definitely the most lively, but you’ll find something for everyone at all resorts.

3) Activities

All Sandals resorts include scuba diving and non-motorized watersports, but others like Sandals Grande St. Lucian, Sandals Dunn’s River, and Sandals Ochi offer amazing opportunities for golf. Looking for Pickleball? You’ll find championship courts at Sandals South Coast, Sandals Royal Curacao and Sandals Regency LaToc.

All Sandals resorts offer something for all age ranges, but the truth is, age really doesn't matter at the resorts. Everyone is there just relaxing and enjoying themselves.

4) Ease of Travel

Some resorts are just 15 minutes from the airport (hello, Sandals Montego Bay & Sandals Grenada). Others take longer to reach but the reward is worth it if you can fit in at least 5 – 7 nights. We’ll show you the trade-offs.

5) Age Demographics

We hear this one all the time: “Will we be the youngest couple there?” And it’s a fair concern. Some resorts attract more honeymooners in their 20s and 30s; others skew older.

Keep reading, we’ll tell you what to expect, without the guesswork. Let’s go!

Top 5 Sandals for Young Couples

With so many Sandals resorts to choose from, the challenge isn’t just finding one that looks good, especially when looking at the marketing… It’s finding the one that fits you. Whether you’re after non-stop energy or quiet beach mornings with breakfast in bed, here’s how each of our top five resorts stands out, and what real couples like you should know before booking.

1. Sandals Dunn’s River – Jamaica

Best for: Sandals 2.0, Adventure, nightlife, and a modern, social scene

Location: Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Price: From ~$235 per person, per night

Vibe: Trendy, adventurous, and newly renovated

Sandals Dunn’s River has quickly become one of the most talked-about resorts in the Sandals portfolio, and for good reason. It’s the newest Sandals Resort in Jamaica, was purpose-built for the modern traveler, and is packed with things to do.

You’ve got DJ nights at the Rum Club, rooftop lounges with panoramic views, a full suite of watersports (including wakeboarding and water skiing), and quick access to iconic Jamaican excursions like Dunn’s River Falls, Mystic Mountain, the Blue Hole, and even cannabis farm tours.

Don't be afraid of being the only young couple! Because you won’t be.

Dunn’s River draws a much younger crowd than some of the legacy properties, especially from late spring through early fall when honeymoon season is in full swing.

2. Sandals Grande St. Lucian – St. Lucia

Best for: Picture-perfect beaches and island adventures

Location: Gros Islet, St. Lucia

Price: From ~$295 per person, per night

Vibe: Romantic, Instagrammable, refined

If your vision is that postcard-perfect Caribbean getaway, with calm turquoise water, rolling mountains, and overwater bungalows, Sandals Grande St. Lucian is your match.

The beach here is arguably the best in St. Lucia! And the Pitons and rainforests offer world-class hiking and sightseeing. And as a guest of Sandals Grande St. Lucian, you can dine at all three Sandals resorts on the island with complimentary transfers.

Don't expect boringness. Not at all… While Sandals Grande St. Lucian does feel luxurious, it’s never boring. You’ll find nightly entertainment, beach parties, and the flexibility to hop between three resorts for different atmospheres.

3. Sandals Ochi – Jamaica

Best for: Nightlife, food options, and budget-conscious travelers

Location: Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Price: From ~$225 per person, per night (often less with promos)

Vibe: Social, playful, and packed with options

Sandals Ochi is hands-down the most fun you can have on a budget. The staff is exceptional, the food is amazing and the gardens surround you. You won't ask for a more relaxing vacation

With 16 restaurants - the most of any Sandals! And also a beach club with DJs and fire shows, and the first speakeasy in the Caribbean, this is where couples come to have fun, dance, and connect.

Sandals Ochi is split between a hillside with quiet butler villas and a beachfront party zone, so you can choose your pace.

With over 100 pools, Sandals Ochi is the most fun if you want options, for sure. And you can finish your evening at the speakeasy, eat sushi by the sea, or chill in a hillside villa with butler service.

4. Sandals Montego Bay – Jamaica

Best for: Quick access from airport, beach energy, and a romantic but active atmosphere

Location: Montego Bay, Jamaica

Price: From ~$260 per person, per night

Vibe: Energetic, modern, beach-focused

If getting there fast and starting the vacation immediately is top of mind, this is the resort to be at. Located just five minutes from Sangster International Airport, Sandals Montego Bay put you right into instant vacation mode.

INSIDER NOTE: Reopening in December 2026, Sandals Montego Bay is being completely redesigned and reimagined. Here you’ll find beautiful beachfront swim-up suites, restaurants with uninterrupted ocean views, and a crowd that keeps the resort fun when you want it. It also offers full exchange privileges with nearby Sandals Royal Caribbean, which doubles your options for dining and entertainment.

Best For Short, 3-Night Vacations?

Yes, and this is the ideal resort for it. Because it’s so close to the airport, there’s virtually no travel downtime. You’re sipping a cocktail while other guests at more remote resorts are still getting there.

5. Sandals Saint Vincent – The Grenadines

Best for: Sandals 2.0. Privacy, nature, and food lovers

Location: Buccament Bay, Saint Vincent

Price: From ~$350 per person, per night

Vibe: Peaceful, boutique, indulgent

Sandals Saint Vincent is the newest in the collection and unlike anything else Sandals has built. Located between the mountains and the sea, it feels like a hidden Caribbean secret. The rooms are some of the largest and most innovative we’ve seen, many with private pools, soaking tubs, or in-suite fitness and media rooms.

The dining here is also some of the best in the entire portfolio, especially at Buccan, where every dish is cooked over an open flame and served family-style under the stars with elaborate introductions to each course.

This is the kind of place that doesn’t just help you relax, it resets you. Perfect for newlyweds, couples healing after a hard season, or anyone needing deep reconnection.

“Is It Too Quiet For Us?”

If you’re looking for nightlife, head to Sandals Ochi or Sandals Montego Bay. But if your dream trip is unplugged, slow, and stunningly beautiful, you’ll fall in love with Sandals Saint Vincent.

Different Types of Young Couples

These five resorts stand out not just because of what they offer, but because of how well they align with different types of young couples. Whether you’re splurging on an overwater bungalow in Jamaica or looking for an active honeymoon without breaking the bank, there’s a Sandals that will feel like it was designed just for you.

Next, we’ll tackle the top questions young couples are asking right now and give you the kind of honest advice that’s usually reserved for our private planning sessions.

Planning Tips from Us (Sandals Chairman’s Royal Club Diamond Elite Travel Advisors)

Jonathan and Angela, founders of Rivage Travel and Best Caribbean Resorts.

Over the years, we’ve learned a few strategies that save time, money, and stress:

●  Book 6–12 months out if you want the best rooms, views, and rates, especially if you're eyeing Club Level or Butler suites.

●  Want both beach and adventure? Look at Sandals Grande St. Lucian or Sandals Dunn’s River.

●  Food lovers: Saint Vincent’s culinary program is the best of the best, especially Buccan.

●  If nightlife is a priority: Ochi is the most active and social.

If you're still on the fence, that’s completely normal. Picking the right resort isn’t just about amenities or location, it’s about the kind of experience you want to remember five, ten, even twenty years from now.

As travel professionals, we’ve helped newlyweds book once-in-a-lifetime honeymoons, planned last-minute getaways for couples juggling careers and kids, and guided first-time visitors through every step. If you want a guide who’s been there, knows the staff by name, and treats your trip like our own, you’re in the right place – best of all, our professional travel planning services are always 100% complimentary to you.

Additionally, every booking now includes our APEX Price Protection service that monitors all weekly 777 promotions and automatically applies the savings to eligible reservations! No other agency offers this service.

Let’s plan something unforgettable!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do we need butler service as a young couple?

Answer: Not unless you want the full VIP treatment, like champagne-drawn baths, reserved cabanas, and someone unpacking your luggage. It’s incredible if you’re splurging, but not mandatory. We often recommend Club Level instead, it still includes perks like room service and concierge access, without the price jump.

What’s the youngest-feeling Sandals resort?

Answer: Sandals Dunn’s River and Ochi consistently attract the most guests in their 20s and 30s, especially during honeymoon-heavy seasons like spring and early summer. These resorts are lively, social, and designed with younger energy in mind.

Are tips really included?

Answer: Technically, yes. Tipping is not expected for most resort staff. But there are exceptions: butlers and spa staff can, and should, be tipped for exceptional service. For butlers, we recommend $25 - $40 per butler, per day, and it can be given at the end of your stay.

Which Sandals resort has direct flights from Boston?

Answer: Grenada has a direct JetBlue flight every Saturday. It’s not daily, but for the right trip, it’s worth timing around. Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals St. Lucia also have great flight options from the Northeast, including direct flights during peak travel seasons.
