Sandals Royal Bahamian Reviewed for 2024

Sandals Royal Bahamian is a true royal gem with a longstanding regal heritage. Before it was part of the Sandals portfolio of resorts, this hotel was known as the Balmoral Club which was a famed 1940s escape for the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. In keeping of the Balmoral legacy, Sandals Royal Bahamian’s main entrance and lobby feature frescoed ceilings and opulent chandeliers, while the updated rooms include modern features and spacious bathrooms. For 2022, Sandals Royal Bahamian just completed a 55 million dollar renovation and now offers two sky-sized pools, the all-new Coconut Grove lounge area, 5-Star Global Gourmet dining with 13 dining options, including 3 all-new food trucks, and an award-winning Red Lane Spa. It also hosts seven pools and complimentary watersports such as sailing, kayaking and scuba diving. Best of all Sandals Royal Bahamian has its own private island that is accessed by a free boat and located within minutes of the dock. Sandals Private Island provides you with full access to two secluded beaches, a lagoon-style pool and a full-service restaurant.

Why is Sandals Royal Bahamian our #8 pick for Best Sandals Resort?

  • The restaurants are great and there is something for everyone. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and dinner at the Italian restaurant is not one to miss.

  • The staff are genuinely friendly and will go out of their way to put a smile on your face.

  • The rooms in all of the buildings are spacious, comfortable and well appointed.

  • There are a lot of guests using the Butler service and for this resort we believe it’s worth the extra money.

  • There are two large pools. One pool is the active pool with a lot of music and lots of activities. The other pool on the Balmoral side is quiet and great for relaxing.

  • The ocean can be quite cool during the winter months.

  • The beach is not large but it is beautiful and very swimmable.

  • We love the off shore island and the Red Lane Spa that’s attached to it. This island has an abundance of private areas to relax and is not over crowded. The beach is beautiful and has hammocks in the water where you can unwind and maybe even have a turtle visit you.

  • Nightly entertainment is not lacking here and you’ll want to enjoy a nightcap at the Balmoral bar or Cricketers Pub.

  • The Red Lane Spa is quiet and relaxing. We highly recommend having your experience on the Private Island.

  • The diving is pretty good here and for an extra expense you can opt in for an exclusive shark diving experience.

  • The fire pits at night are a nice way to spend an evening and make new friends.

  • The view from the gym on the top floor is amazing.

  • WiFi is free but can be a bit spotty at times.

  • Room service is quick and the menu is worth exploring.
