Sandals Regency La Toc Review | The Most Glamorous Of Them All

By Jonathan | Updated April 16, 2025

Sandals Regency La Toc private pool

As Sandals Chairmans Club Diamond Elite Travel experts, we've been specializing in Sandals resorts for over fifteen years and have booked over 1,500 trips for our clients throughout their seventeen resorts. Having been to all of them ourselves, the one Caribbean island that is always top of mind for our clients is the beautiful country of St. Lucia.

Given that we have such a young family, Angela and I don't get many opportunities to visit couple-only resorts, so when we do, we want to find a place that we haven't spent as much time at and a resort that many of our clients ask about.

Let's get into it!

In short, the Sandals Regency La Toc resort in St. Lucia offers one of those experiences that makes you wonder why you ever stayed anywhere else. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with a smile, and as we prepared for our check-in, I could see that beachfront pool with its swim-up bar calling my name. Mojito, anyone?

Our initial impressions were that this is, as we still remember, a top Sandals resort, even with the new, more modern resorts they've recently debuted.

But, before we get into the details of our experience, let's do a quick overview of what you should know about Sandals Regency La Toc.

What to Know About Sandals Regency La Toc

Sandals La Toc sits along La Toc Road, framed by calm waters on its crescent-shaped beach and rolling green hills. It’s part of the “Stay at 1, Play at 3” program, meaning you can enjoy 27 different restaurants across all three Sandals resorts on the island, including Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Halcyon Beach.

Our favorite entry-level Sandals Luxury room category is the Emerald Honeymoon Oceanview room, which starts at around $361 per person per night and can be further discounted depending on current promotions. It’s a cozy but stylish option that overlooks the main pool and is stocked with local beer and wine.

What do guest resort reviews say about Sandals Regency La Toc? With over 13,000, 4.5 ratings on Trip Advisor, the overall experience speaks to the “great food,” fun water activities, and ocean views from the seaside bluffs. Guests also highlighted the friendly front desk team and concierge service, too.

Arrival & First Impressions:

Getting to the Resort

Back to our trip report! We arrived at Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in the mid-afternoon to a relatively busy airport. After clearing customs, we headed into the arrivals area and met with the Sandals team at their lounge. After a cold Red Stripe and a quick snack, we took“Fun To See Island Ferry” boat ride to the resort…

Once your done in the Sandals Lounge, bring your luggage with you to their kiosk and the Fun To See shuttle picks you up for a quick 7 minute shuttle ride to the dock. We got on the boat, had a few included adult beverages and chatted with other couples while we waited for the rest of the passengers to arrive. The ride was awesome with an amazing view of the Pitons and other parts of the island.

When it comes to seat selection, they will allow you to stand on the bow of the boat, so we recommend purchasing the cheapest seat.

The trip cost $330 for Angela and I. We also tipped the staff $20 for being so much fun, informative and for keeping the drinks coming.

To book, visit www.FunToSeeIsland.com or let us know and we'll book it for you!

As we arrived at the resort, the main entrance looked modern and had beautiful views, leading to a main dining area and the beach. The resort is over 30 years old so there is some wear, but the overall vibe though is classy, and beautiful. The main lobby area, pavilion, restaurants and pools are all very nice, too. The landscaping is gorgeous with countless different flowers and plants with great lighting around the property at night.

While it is an older resort, if you read comments about it being run down, it's not. You can tell it’s well loved and maintained however, if you're looking for the pristine, modern Sandals 2.0 resort this might not be the place for you and we'd recommend Sandals Saint Vincent.

As we walked into the lobby, the front desk team greeted us with a glass of bubbly, a chilled towel infused with its signature lemongrass scent and then introducing us to our butler team. They explained how to find the fitness center, access the golf course at the Cap Estate Country Club in Gros Islet, and the many restaurants around the resort.

Our initial thoughts? This is the kind of place where the staff genuinely wants you to feel at home.

We're off to a good start!

Our Room: Oceanfront Two-Story One Bedroom Butler Villa With Private Pool

For this trip, we got to experience our stay in the brand new Oceanfront Two-Story One Bedroom Butler Villa with a Private Pool (B2P). These are priced at $801.00 per person per night and can be discounted further with the free anniversary night and military discount.

The suite was modern and amazingly beautiful. Featuring a personal plunge pool, a stunning view of the ocean, and butler service which handled all of our details like dinner reservations, snacks, and lounge chair setup.

The newly designed layout was equally impressive. The lower floor had this cozy living area, a bar setup, and a great spot for in-room dining. Upstairs, the bedroom had a balcony with a view of the Caribbean Sea.

One morning, our butler arranged breakfast on the balcony with fruit and pastries while we watched sailboats drift by. This is the life!

What Makes Sandals Regency La Toc a Top Recommendation?

We've visited all of the Sandals Resorts throughout the Caribbean, and Sandals Regency LaToc is one of our favorites for its location and room types.

Here are some highlights.

  • All-Inclusive: Meals, drinks, and non-motorized water sports are included.

  • Resort Access: You can use the daily shuttle service to visit Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Halcyon Beach. Visit Pigeon Island National Park at the Grande.

  • Golf: There is no longer a nine hole golf course at Sandals La Toc, as it's been turned into the new Rondoval Butler Village.

  • Perfect for Special Occasions: Whether it’s a honeymoon, anniversary, or your first vacation to the Caribbean, this all inclusive resort is great for any celebration.

The beach might be considered small as compared to other resorts but we liked it. There are umbrellas with chairs on both the right and left side with an open area in the middle. We preferred the left side facing the ocean as it is next to Neptune’s, Bella Napoli, and most importantly, the bar!

The water is also calmer on this side. The right side has some rougher waters and is a further walk to a bar. This is also where you'll find more vendors trying to sell excursions.

If you want to be near the calmer water and do not have a butler to reserve your chairs, try to get there before 8am.

While on the beach we loved seeing the little crabs coming in and out, they are so cute! Also, the resort is next to one of the ports, so you'll see these massive ships moving in and out. They are far enough away that they don’t disturb you, but close enough to get a good look at.

The ocean was amazing. Water temperature was cool but not as cold as the pools, which we're chilly... The water is clear and you can see all the way to the bottom. For us, we had yellow flags most of the time we there there, but were still able to get into the water.

The pools are chilly! All three pools have a hot tub that are toasty and a great place to relax in the evening. We never really swam in the pools since we love the ocean so much but if you prefer pool lounging, go to the pool by 7:30-8am to grab a decent spot (unless you have a butler), then hit up breakfast.

  • Upper pool: We mixed it up one morning and visited to the upper pool by Armando’s one day. We arrived around 9:00am and all but two of the oceanview chairs were reserved. We grabbed the last 2 chairs on the end, and stayed until chairs opened up after the 11 o’clock butler no-shows. There is only a swim-up bar at this pool, so you have to get in the water if you want a drink. You can can also go into the indoor lounge that connects to the pool, but it doesn’t officially open until evening time. We flagged down a pool bartender a few times and they were happy to come in to make us drinks as this pool wasn’t busy.

  • Middle pool: We never spent time at the middle pool, but it always seemed fairly quiet so if you’re looking for a slower paced pool to relax, this is your spot.

  • Lower pool: The Pavillion pool has the most chairs, and several that face the ocean behind the sea wall. Similar to the upper and middles pool, a lot of these chairs get reserved early, so if you want a decent spot, head down around 7:30am and put your towels down while you go have breakfast. This pool has a pool bar that opens at 10am and there is usually a DJ at this pool, but it’s not overly loud. Just gives the place some party vibes.

Dining at Sandals Regency La Toc

Sandals La Toc has nine on-site restaurants. A fine-dining French restaurant offers an upscaled white-gloved culinary experience. Each one serves a different cuisine, from Caribbean styles at The Pitons to Neapolitan-style pizzas at Bella Napoli Pizzeria. Kimonos offers live teppanyaki shows and Soy Sushi Bar, which, for us, is always a great place to start our night out!

Here are the highlights

On-Site Restaurants

  • LA TOC: Upscale, indoor vibe. Reservations needed, men have to wear pants and “dress shoes”. Slip-on shoes work fine as long as it’s not a sandal. Escargot, Yellow Fin Tuna, Shrimp, and Scallop apps were all great, Escargot is the best, served in parm garlic butter! The scallops are served with a thin slice of bacon which was good. The Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked and honestly on par with some of the better steaks I’ve had over the years. Skip the Cordon Bleu, it was just ok.

  • PITONS: A nice open air structure with LED candles on the tables. It’s next to the middle pool so there is great lighting surrounding you. The red pepper grilled shrimp app was the best shrimp we tasted all week, perfectly cooked and huge flavor. Fish cakes and coleslaw were very good, too. Blue Mountain Coffee rubbed ribeye was very good!

  • NEPTUNE’S DINNER: Open air restaurant right near the ocean with three resident cats that keep everyone company. The red snapper was my favorite fish entree of the week and was perfectly cooked. Although, I'm not a huge surf guy, the Surf and Turf was a nice choice with shrimp with a nice cut of sirloin. The calamari appetizer was great. A light breading, fried to crispy perfection with a tasty garlic aioli. Yum!

  • NEPTUNE’s LUNCH: Greek salad is great, nice fresh ingredients, great dressing with just the right amount. Mahi Mahi was very good for a lunch meal, nice and light. Fried fish sandwich is also tasty if you’d prefer to carb load for lunch. The Jerk Chicken is good and not overly spicy. They serve it “yard style” so you have 3 or 4 pieces grilled on the bone. I got a leg, a thigh and part of a breast. We ate lunch here 2 different days as it’s delicious and convenient.

  • KIMONO’S: Typical hibachi/tappenyaki. Nothing to note that was outstanding, but nothing that was bad either. Apps were shrimp dumplings which were very good and the Ginger Salad was just fine, but nothing special. Main course was fried rice, grilled veggies, chicken, steak, mahi mahi, and shrimp. They were all very good.

  • BELLA NAPOLI: A solid wood-fired personal pizza. The crust is perfectly flame-kissed with a bit of a crunch and is the best part of the pie. The sauce and toppings are just fine, but nothing to speak of. They serve the pizzas in a box, so you can take it to the pool, the beach, your room, or they have several first-come first-served tables that overlook the beach. A very convenient and easy lunch. The pizza are just big enough that I never finished one, but had some crumbs to feed the beach dogs, cats, and birds.

  • ARMANDO’S: This is a white table cloth fine dining restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. We found the outdoor seating stuffy without a lot of air movement. We had breakfast one day and the Caribbean Omelet was a well-prepared tasty change from the Pavillion. We also had lunch here, and the pasta dishes were just too heavy for us on a hot day, so be barely touched them. Great desserts, though. We decided to eat a second night at “La Toc” rather than having dinner here, so I cannot speak about their dinner.

  • PAVILLION: A great place for breakfast buffet every morning. They have pancakes, waffles, bagels, cereal, plus typical continental breakfast stuff. I highly recommend the omelet station. We had dinner here our first night since we arrived so late. Surf & Turf and the chicken legs were just ok.

  • THE CRICKETER: We had jerk chicken wings here one night since we had a early dinner reservation. I can't really recommend them, though. The fries are good for late night bite but that was about it and we didn’t try anything else on the menu.

Bars and Lounges

  • Main Pool Swim-Up Bar: Enjoy a tropical drink without leaving the water.

  • Sunset Bluff Bar: Sip cocktails high above the ocean backdrop.

  • Cricketer’s Pub Bar: Chat over pints and late-night snacks.

  • La Toc Bar: A stylish spot for premium spirits and relaxed mingling.

  • Pool Bar: Quick refreshers by the water’s edge.

  • Beach Bar: Ocean breezes and cold brews just steps from the sand.

  • Club Sandals Lounge Bar: Exclusive pours and seating for Club Level guests.

Things to Do:

This was a quick trip, so we definitely did not have enough time to try every activity - but we tried! The property has everything from pool games at the main pool to laid-back moments like a quiet read on the beach, but there’s so much more to explore.

Check out everything we did on this stay!

On-Resort Activities:

  • Water Sports: Scuba diving, snorkeling, hobie cat sailing, and paddleboarding are all included for guests.

  • Land Sports: Enjoy the Cap Estate golf course with complimentary green fees, tennis courts, a pool table, and table tennis.

  • Pools and Whirlpools: The main pool is energetic, the bluff pool is tranquil, and there’s a leisure pool for those seeking solitude.

Wellness and Spa:

The Red Lane Spa is popular for couples massages, and there’s a eucalyptus steam room here as well, which is a great place to finish a day at the beach. Aqua-fit classes happen at the main pool, and the fitness center’s modern equipment is available to wellness-focused guests.

Entertainment and Nightlife:

This is an active all inclusive resort, with evenings often featuring live music or shows. One night might be a dance party; another could showcase local performers. Multiple bars and lounges stay open late, and the bartenders are genuinely entertaining.

What to See at Sandals La Toc:

The resort’s private beach is a gem, but due to its position, there may be red flag days if the water is choppy. If you’d like to explore off-site, the resort and us - can help plan excursions such as a sunset catamaran boat tour to Marigot Bay or a day trip to the famous mud baths near Soufrière.

Weddings and Honeymoons:

We've done many weddings here for our clients over the years and have had the chance to see firsthand how weddings at Sandals La Toc can be both elegant and surprisingly easy to coordinate.

If you stay three nights or more, you can often take advantage of the complimentary wedding package, which includes a dedicated wedding planning team, a ceremony setup, basic floral arrangements, a wedding cake, and more. It’s a great option for couples who want a beautiful ceremony without juggling too many extra details.

If you’re looking for a bigger celebration with personalized touches, Sandals offers upgraded packages. These can include add-ons like live music, premium floral designs, photography and videography services, customized receptions on the beach, and private dining experiences. The nice thing is that everything is handled by on-site specialists, so you can focus on enjoying your time in St. Lucia instead of worrying about logistics.

As for wedding locations, Sandals La Toc has some great locations. Most choose a beach ceremony, but there are garden gazebos nestled among the tropical plants for a cozy, scenic feel. There’s also a bluff setting for those wanting something more dramatic.

How Sandals La Toc Compares to Other Sandals Resorts in St. Lucia

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is known for a larger, calmer beach. Sandals Halcyon Beach is quieter and more intimate, and Sandals La Toc hits a happy balance for travelers wanting both a lively atmosphere (like the main pool) and romantic hideaways (the bluff pool or private pool suites).

For an even more detailed overview, check out our article about the best-rated Sandals resorts.

Why You Should Visit Sandals Regency La Toc

We'd recommend Sandals La Toc for many reasons. The scenic beach and multiple outdoor pools (including a cliffside bluff pool) cater to different interests. I will say the staff members often anticipate your needs and genuinely care about your travel experience.

There’s plenty of entertainment at night, and you can always retreat to a quieter spot if that’s more your style. It’s a place that brings the fun and tranquility under one umbrella.

Our Wrap Up:

After spending time at Sandals La Toc, I can confidently call it one of the best upscale resorts in St. Lucia. Whether you’re a first-timer or a well-traveled guest, this spot offers something for everyone.

Standouts include the dining options, it's pools, and a consistently attentive staff.

In the end, I’d happily recommend Sandals La Toc to our clients planning honeymoons, anniversaries, or anyone seeking a Caribbean getaway.

“BRING” vs. “DON’T BRING”

BRING Insulated tumblers. It keeps your drink cold longer than the plastic bar cups and they will fill it up even if it’s a bigger cup.

BRING One power strip and 15’ extension cord as there are limited US outlets in the rooms. We used the strip to charge everything and the extension cord to get US power to the bathroom.

BRING Different SPFs of reef safe sunscreen.

BRING Towel clips or bands to reserve your chairs...

BRING Bug spray. I’ve seen mixed reviews on this. We didn't bring any this time and of course I got bit several times but my wife did not.

DON’T BRING Pool floaties. We brought ours and they never got used.

DON’T BRING Too many clothes. You need beachwear and a beach dressy outfit for evening time.
